Beef Shatkora

INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb beef (washed and drained)
- 3 pieces of Shatkora<BR>
2 medium chopped onions - 1/3 cup of oil
- 4 cardamom
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 1.5 tsp minced ginger
- 1.5 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp salt (or salt to taste)
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1.5 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 4 cups of water required
Optional: 1 tsp of pachporan (5 spices)
Optional: Julienne ginger slices to garnish
STEPS
- Soak dried shatkora in water to hydrate it
- Add all the spices (except onions) to the raw beef to marinate it
- Heat oil in a pan and add the onions to sauté
- Once onions are translucent, add the marinated beef
- Bring the beef to simmer then cover and cook for 40- 45 minutes
Note: (Stir it often to prevent it from burning) - Add 4 cups of water after all the water from the beef evaporates
- After the beef is ¾ cooked, add the shatkora and finish cooking the beef
- Serve it in a bowl and garnish it with ginger
